Tomorrow morning Jack Kavanagh will step into the the four cornered ring, in the defence of his Connacht Boys title. A large travelling contingent from Swinford will descend on Oughterard to see if Kavanagh can live up to the favourites billing, and capture a second Connacht title in two years.

Kavanagh faces the experienced Patrick Lawrence of the Eagles boxing club Westport in an all Mayo affair. Lawrence took the Mayo title earlier in the year at a championships where Kavanagh was a noted absence due to injury. Despite a minor re-occurance of the same injury in the past week, Kavanagh’s confidence will be high after a 15-5 defeat of his Galway opponent in last weekend’s semi-final.

Kavanagh was wished the best from his Swinford team mates this evening at the Conway Gym and Fitness centre. Conversations were of a positive nature with the vast majority feeling that barring a disaster Kavanagh would be the likely victor, and this from those who know what they talk, but everyone knows and none better than those at Cheltenham this week…… favourites don’t always romp home! Lets hope that Jack performs to his potential…
