Yesterday saw St Anne’s BC Westport visit the Conway Gym & Fitness Centre for an evening of exhibitions. The standard of boxing was exceptional considering it was the first time in the ring for some of our newer members.
Featuring for Westport were Megan Gavin, Jordyn Burke, Gracjan Borowski, Amelia Bura, Emma Murray, Catherine Walsh and Emma Maxwell.
Representing Swinford were brother and sister duo Saoirse and Aidan Breen, sisters Erin and Serena McHugh, Sean McDonagh, Dylan Toner, Sean McSharry, Aoife Bredican, Chloe Moore, Saoirse Oliver, Amanda Walsh, on the comeback trail Victoria Harraghy. Making impressive debuts were Ewan Grady, Tyler Moran, Liam Groarke, Liam Giblin and Kevin Nestor, who revived a family boxing tradition. Completing the bill were the Rowley sisters, Lucy May, Grace and Molly, who made club history as the first trio of sisters to compete for the club.
A great night was had by all and the club cannot express how proud we are of everyone who took part. We honestly believe that there are big things to come from this bunch of young people.
Thanks to our friends from St Anne’s BC in Westport, it was a pleasure to host you all, as always. Thanks to all the parents and friends who supported the evening and all who gave of their time and energy to help out. It’s greatly appreciated.
