The work is now done, the talking over, and time for the action to begin.
The Irish team depart Dublin airport tomorrow morning for Hungary, and Ciara Sheedy will be looking to add to her ever growing medal haul, as she represents our country in the 63kg division.
Defending lightweight champion Katie Taylor is also included on the Irish team, ahead of Monday’s opening bell at the Helikon Hotel, venue for the 7th edition of the tournament. The 2013 EU Championships draw will be made at 11am (Irish time) Monday. Boxing commences that afternoon.
A further five Mayo boxers are also included in the Irish team, and the club wishes them the best of boxing.
51kg: Lycia Heneghan (Ballinrobe)
75kg: Katie Higgins (Ardnaree)
48kg: Jacqui Lynch (Golden Gloves)
54kg: Grainne Gavin (Castlebar)
60kg: Ciara Ginty (Geesala)
And so all eyes will be on the shores of Lake Balaton from Monday, as Irish boxing targets more medals in European competition. Twenty three nations will compete in the championships, and Swinford Boxing Club are proud that Ciara Sheedy will be amoung them. We wish her the best in her exploits. Updates from the event will be posted on this site. Go Ciara!
